Outer–Inner Color

“Spheres of Carmine”

I explored the intensity of carmine—specifically the relationship between color tension and form, and how form alters the tonal value of color. The outer color envelops the inner space of the object like a mantle. The shell gives frame and shape to an infinite, vapor-like energy.

With the color of the outer surface, I influence the “inner event.” I encourage the viewer to step closer, to look inside and examine it, as the sphere’s interior cannot be precisely perceived within the powerful mass of color.
Carmine extends beyond the object like glowing lava; the form pulses and radiates from within, suggesting a volume greater than its physical presence.
